USE OF ACTIVE VOICE AND PASSIVE VOICE

Though, In general Active voice is preferred, most
grammarians agree that the passive voice should be used when the receiver of the action is more important that the doer.

Eg: "The city was devastated by a tsunami"
                   (passive voice)
this sentence is better rather than

"A tsunami devastated the city"  (active voice)

so in this case passive voice is preferred to active voice.
